The Phoenix is the flagship housing development by sustainable developer Human Nature. Facit Homes was engaged to explore the construction of the most technically challenging area of the site, known as Parcel 1, designed by architects Ash Sakula.

Facit Homes was invited by Human Nature to assess how our on-site manufacturing system could be applied to The Phoenix, a groundbreaking sustainable neighborhood in Lewes. Our team carried out a detailed structural, groundworks, and MVHR (mechanical ventilation with heat recovery) design review, alongside developing a comprehensive BIM model—an essential step that had not yet been completed. We also produced a highly detailed cost plan with precise quantities, enabling a clear understanding of the financial implications of the build.

Our advanced digital manufacturing approach proved to be an excellent fit for The Phoenix, not only in terms of sustainability but also cost, logistics, and efficiency. The project’s complex architectural design aligns perfectly with our system, where complexity does not translate into higher costs.

By manufacturing precision-engineered components directly on-site, we could streamline construction, reduce waste, and significantly cut transport emissions.

Ultimately, our cost plan demonstrated that Facit Homes could deliver the project at approximately 20% lower cost than a traditional main contractor—showcasing the power of our innovative approach in large-scale, sustainable urban developments.
